I am looking for summer holiday support for my 9-year-old nonverbal Autistic son.
My son loves company and is very loving and caring towards his family. He loves to be out and about, finding space to explore (with supervision), enjoying basket swings at parks, riding the trains and being at school with his routine and familiar surroundings. My son loves sensory and water play, watching cartoons on his iPad which we are trying to limit. He responds positively to singing, music and repetitive songs.
My son has cerebral palsy, global developmental delay and autism and requires full assistance and support with all daily and personal care needs. He can walk for short distances but tires easily.
My daughter (age 2) loves to be around her big brother AND the carers so if you don’t mind another little person listening in to stories or joining in with activities that would be an advantage.
At times my son can become emotionally dysregulated and display challenging behaviours, therefore a person confident in managing and supporting emotional dysregulation and behaviours that challenge would be advantageous.
A driver would be preferable but not essential to the role. Mileage will be paid.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Planning appropriate activities and outings
• Engaging with my son with his preferred activities and toys as well as introducing him to toys outside his comfort zone.
• Limiting screen time.
• Assisting mum with getting my son toilet trained (any ideas welcomed!)
• Cleaning up after mealtimes may include some meal prep with assistance from myself.
• Keeping the house tidy, so its hazard free for my son and tidying up after yourself and my son whilst on duty
• All self-care involving my son i.e., dressing, nappy changes, bath times and feeding.
The role would start from 24/07 to 01/09. 5 days a week may include weekends from 10 – 6pm/ 8:30 – 4:30 (on days that I go to work once or twice a week). I can be flexible with days/times.
Pay - £17.50 a hour weekdays and £19 a hour weekends
