How much does it cost to hire a housekeeper in 2024?

Based on Care.com's data, the national average rate for a housekeeper is £12.89 per hour as of April 2024. The cost will vary based on your location and other factors, such as the size and condition of your home and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. In some cases, housekeepers will charge a flat rate per day, but you can discuss the details during the interview process and agree to a rate that works best for both parties.

In 2024 how can I best find a housekeeper?

You will have the option to search for housekeepers by narrowing down your candidate options based on their hourly rate, years of experience, distance from your location, availability and other factors. You can also post a job to receive applications from housekeepers listed on Care.com. After you have selected and screened some candidates, you can hire the housekeeper that best matches your needs.

How often should I have my house cleaned?

It's easier for your housekeeper to maintain the condition of your home with more frequent visits. With a weekly or bi-weekly visit, there will be less cleaning work per visit and it usually costs less.

What will a housekeeper do?

Each housekeeper does things a little different, but in general, a housekeeper will help you to keep your home clean and organised on a regular basis. It is a good idea to go over the detailed tasks you expect your cleaner to perform so you can both agree on what will and won't be done. Standard duties to discuss include cleaning the main areas of your house or flat, such as the kitchen, living room, bedrooms and bathrooms.
