Elderly Care in Weymouth

| Hello. My name is Rachel and I am a former Spanish teacher. I have had lots of roles previously which have involved caring for others. When I first graduated I worked as a your guide on Latin America where I took groups of 12 people of trekking and wildlife tours. I was solely responsible for their welfare during these trips and this was pre mobile phones! So problem solving was something you had to do on your own! Since then I have been a teacher for children and young people and I currently work for a youth organisation. I grew up in a village stores and post office where the majority of our customers were elderly people so from a young age I was delivering shopping to the elderly often stopping in for a cup of tea and to help them with anything they needed help with at home. I love helping others and enjoy the company of older people whose lives are so rich and interesting.

I find caring and enabling others a very rewarding career and have been offering this service for nearly 30 years. For the last 3 years I have been working self employed, prior to that I spent 8 years on the wards in a private hospital, working alongside the registered nurses where I studied to become an assistant practitioner. My experience has taught me how to recognise signs of deterioration, safe moving & handling along with many other skills. I have experience & knowledge in supporting the elderly, persons with dementia and people with learning difficulties. I am happy to assist with any duties including personal care, housekeeping, shopping, companionship, anything that enables someone to maintain their independence . Foundation degree in Health & Social care level 5, certificate in foot care. References, DBS, qualifications and certificates of training received, available on request. | I feel the companionship and relationship aspect of care is greatly important to the quality of the client's life. I spent many years in the company of my great grandmother, assisting with general day to day tasks as well as spending time with her. Also, I domestically cared for another member of my family while he was terminally ill. These experiences were before I was trained or qualified in care, however, they are the sole reason I wanted to pursue care work. I feel it is vital to give back in the community and taking care of people I feel has the greatest rewards. I have had experience within a residential care home which primarily cared for residents with various stages of dementia. I have had a great deal of experience in domestic duties of care such as cleaning a home, shopping, assisting with meals and feeding and other day to day activities including full personal care duties. I have a caring and helpful nature. I feel caring and looking after people comes very naturally to me. I strive to assist people and help with their needs.

| I studied health and social care at school at sixth form and have gained an nvq level 3 as well as completing a care certificate during my career. I have worked in the care service for 9 years now, first as an agency carer thrown in the deep end and learning skills within residential and nursing homes as well as with those who have additional needs. The following 8 years I have been based in one amazing care home, enhancing those skills and promoting quality and compassionate care for the elderly with physical and mental health conditions. I am trained in administering medication and have been in a senior carer role for the last 3 years. Throughout this time I have built confidence, enhanced my communication skills and have made incredible relationships with this wi have supported. I love getting to know people and being able to provide the best, person tailored care that I can for each individual.

| I have been a carer sine I was 21 and now 32. I have my NVQ 2&3 in health and social care. I have worked in nursing homes and residential care homes as well as loom after elderly and learning disabilities in their own home. I am looking to branch out on my ow as self employed to offer my services to as many people as I can.

| Hello my name is Karen! I have been in the care industry for around 20 years now as well as bringing up a family of 4 children that are now all grown up. I specialise with people living with dementia and like to enable them to stay in their own home as long as possible. I am caring, patient and work hard as well as treating everyone with a person centred approach. I will come and assist you to get up and ready for the day, make meals and do light housework! | I am Currently working as a live in carer, in my off time I am looking to continue my work be it companionship, personal care or assisting with general everyday tasks. I have 4 years of experience working in health and social care. Working with elderly individuals in various setting including nursing homes, hospitals and home care. I also have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities ranging from mild to severe. I am fully DBS checked as well as being first aid trained and moving and handling certified. I am very passionate about working holistically alongside individuals in need of additional support. As well as care duties I am committed to getting to know the care receiver as an individual; offering as much companionship as is welcome.
