I suffer from a genetic connective tissue disorder that has impacted my body, but also the entire scope of how I see the world.
In addition to dealing with multiple diagnoses throughout the years, I became interested in amplifying children's voices, particularly those who are neurodiverse, had different physical capabilities and other rare and/or chronic conditions.
I have extensive field knowledge on the use of medical devices that I have needed to sustain a certain quality of life (PICC line, intramuscular injections, etc.) as well as way too many hospitalization. So while I may not have much formal medical training, I am always willing to learn and to help children like me, whose whole world is seen through a different lens. My academic research reflects my desire to support children and ensure that their needs are met.
That is my passion: helping kids like me, were given a different perspective in life, one that not many want to be a part of but one that is full of support, love and empathy.
