To wrap up the summer we have remixed and revisited our favorite projects from this summer for a fun filled finale! This week we will experiment with materials such as prisms, mirrors, bubble wrap, glow in the dark beads, shaving cream, paint, and more - and let our imagination run wild! This week is sure to delight the adventurous artist! This week, we'll be mixing it up with a combination of printmaking techniques and bookmaking. We'll be using image transfers, stamping, embossing, scratch boards, and paper marbling to create one-of-a-kind prints. And, to bring it all together, we will use folding, sewing, and clamp binding techniques to create a set of small books. It's going to be chock full of FUN art making and storytelling! Note: Prints & Books is offered twice during the summer. The techniques may overlap, but the projects are different in each session - so feel free to register for one week or both for double the fun! Some of the AWESOME projects we will make this week: Flip book story Magical tape transfer Swirly hidden image Artist Trading Card And so much more!! Our large, private studio is an ideal place for your child and their friends to be led by an artist in creating a unique craft of your choice. The craft usually lasts an hour and depending on the group's age and interest we can also run games to keep the children moving and let them explore our floor to ceiling white board wall. Our teacher will greet the children, run your craft, and clean up. Relax and leave the mess to us so your can enjoy your child's special day! We provide two hours in the studio with a teacher led craft. A full list of party themes is available on our Birthday Party website page. Custom projects are available for a small additional fee of $30. This payment of $150 is a non-refundable deposit to hold your space for the party. Full cost is $395 for up to 10 attendees and $15/additional child to be settled the day of the party.

Perfect for beginners: you'll learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and glazing before the final firing and get a taste of what our longer wheel throwing courses are like. You'll throw your pieces in the first session and glaze them in the second session after a bisque firing in between.

They'll learn how to approach, organize and plan creative projects; draw ideas and inspiration from the world of art, nature, or their own personal style and imagination; practice with artistic tools and techniques necessary to bring creative projects to life; build and benefit from a creative community that supports, inspires and perseveres as each artists grows in skill and capability. In our purpose-built, creative studio students will mix it up with projects that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fiber arts, and more! Each student will leave with a collection of artworks and their own artist-journal documenting processes learned and artistic growth over time. This class is open to beginning students who have never used a wheel as well as students with prior wheel throwing experience, looking to advance their skills. First time students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and pulling walls to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze pieces before the final firing. Experienced students will take their work to the next level: adding attachments like handles and spouts and carving and sculpting texture. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period. Course fee includes access to tools, clay, and glazes.

This course is designed for intermediate potters who want to level up their skills by creating advanced forms including multi-part vessels like teapots, plates, cake plates, lidded vessels, and larger vases. Each class, we will demonstrate a new form and surface design techniques. Pre-requisites for this course are that you have taken at least one Adult Pottery on the Wheel class at Studio on the Common or a similar course elsewhere OR you can confidently center 3 to 5 lbs of clay on the wheel and pull a cylinder form from it. If you don't meet those prerequisites, we are still offering multiple beginner courses at Studio on the Common for you to learn and practice the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing. Open Studio time is included with your registration. Additional clay can be purchased at the studio.
