As a Primary Teacher, I really enjoyed delivering creative and engaging activities that linked to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. Now that I have left teaching I would love the opportunity to use all the resources I created and skills I developed in a private tutoring setting. I don't have any direct private tutoring experience but I am confident in my ability to build positive relationships with children and understanding how to best meet their learning needs in a way that interests them. I was able to deliver learning experiences to classes of over 23 children with a vast range of learning styles and stages of development. This assures me that I would be able to confidently deliver learning activities to children in a much more private and individualized way.

Friendly and fun! If you enjoy it, you're likely to remember it!
| My methodology: I take a very friendly and calm approach to teaching. I structure each lesson well in advance, but leave enough 'wiggle room' for times where the student is finding the work too easy or too hard. I find one of the most important things about teaching is basing everything around the students' needs, as opposed to following a rigid plan. This way, the student is less stressed, and henceforth happier and most likely to retain the learned information! My background: I achieved my Advanced Higher English in School with an A grade. My University degree is in English Language and Linguistics. I am currently studying my Masters degree in Speech and Language therapy. I have been tutoring TEFL and Standard Grade/Higher English both live and online since 2012, and have an excellent track record.

Geology University Graduate
| I went to Oberlin College, a University in the United States, where I studied Geology. I was a teaching assistant for the Oberlin College Geology Department, where I attended weekly labs and field trips of Earth’s Environments (GEOL 120) as an aid to professor Karla Hubbard. I also tutored students outside of class on course material including rock types, mineralogy, structure, and geomorphology. I was also a tutor for Geomorphology (GEOL 212) where I reviewed course material, including hillslope diffusion, channel evolution, and glaciers outside of class with students. I also assisted with analyzing survey data and writing lab reports.

Hi there, I'm Calum, a fourth year vet student at the University of Glasgow
| As part of getting into vet school there are high academic requirements as it is a very intense course: rigourous in both workload and complexity. I performed well academically in school, in particular all three sciences and mathematics as well as history (all to a grade A at higher). I thoroughly enjoy both learning new topics as well as passing on complex ideas and guiding others through difficult subjects. However, I didn't just spend my time in school with books, also spending a lot of my time on the local river, training to compete in rowing up to a national championship winning level, whilst also being voted Club Captain by my peers. As part of the club I also spent my summers teaching many groups of children of varying ages and abilities the basics of the sport. Together these experiences have given me the qualities and skills needed to be well suited to tutoring, with the coaching giving me the patience and experience to teach children in a positive and engaging manner and the school and university experience giving me the necessary knowledge. I also have some personal experience with tutoring younger children, having a 10 year old sister who tries her best to not make it easy for me, but is still progressing wonderfully.

Hello! I'm Scott, a 28 year with a passion for teaching
| I have helped people understand, learn and adapt to new ways of studying, learning and engaging in course content like never before. Alongside my tutoring, I factor in a break and an element of guidance allowing students to speak freely of learning and personal issues that may be concerning them. I also allow students to address areas they need supported in and provide them with a more tailored learning experience.
