I have a wealth of experience when it comes to childcare and special needs!
| I may only be 20 however this doesn't mean I have no experience in child care or children with additional needs! From the age of 8 my parents took on a residential role as house parents for Shapwick School, a school which specialises in dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia. The boarding house consisted of children aged 9-14 all with these needs, often accompanied by ADD, ADHD, Autism, sensory processing disorder, the list goes on! I now work at this school one day a week as the role of an assistant house parent. I am responsible for giving controlled medication, signing marr sheets and drug records, cooking and generally looking out for their wellbeing. Aside from this I am a fully qualified level 2 gymnastics coach and level 1 trampoline coach. I have coached children with type 1 diabetes, sensory processing disorder, allergies and cystic fibrosis. I know the signs and when to ask if they're okay. With both these roles I currently hold full DBS checks, first aid qualifications, SEN training, safeguarding training, mental health training and can provide references and proof. I currently commute to uni and live at home. My availability from week to week changes but I can give notice of this in advance.
