I have experience in both caring for the elderly as well as caring for individuals with disabilities. I am an additional carer for my son who has Sickle Cell Disease and have been for 37 years (he has a care package in place meaning I now have assistance). My son has had a double hip replacement, meaning he requires help with mobility, dressing and washing as well as shopping, errands, help with cooking, medication administration, letter writing, hospital admissions (arranging ambulance transportation) and general housekeeping. I have also been a full-time carer for my late mother who suffered from Dementia. This required me to carry out daily tasks such as washing and dressing her, cooking meals for her, assisting with eating meals, running errands, shopping for the home, attending hospital appointments with her, providing transport, housekeeping, companionship, recouperation breaks and much more. I cared for my mother for 5 years until sadly she passed away.
