Learning Support Assistant for 11-Year-Old Boy with Additional Needs

We’re looking for a dynamic, patient, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support an 11-year-old boy with additional needs. About the Role: In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in fostering independence, confidence, and enjoyment of life through engaging and tailored activities. Your responsibilities will include: Providing one-on-one support during sports and physical activities to encourage participation, coordination, and teamwork. Going for walks, cycling , and other outdoor life skills Facilitating learning and development, including building essential life skills such as organization, communication, and self-care. Supporting academic learning and homework with a hands-on, creative approach. Encouraging social interaction and helping build positive relationships with peers. Collaborating with the family and any involved professionals to ensure a consistent and personalized approach. What We’re Looking For: Experience working with children with additional needs (e.g., ADHD, autism, or learning difficulties). A genuine passion for sports and active play, with the ability to motivate and adapt activities to suit individual abilities. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a nurturing attitude. The ability to think creatively and adapt to the needs of the child in both structured and informal settings. I will want the carer to have high level of verbal, play and social interaction with James to assist in his rehabilitation following a devastating auto immune illness. The carer must love children, be kind and understanding of a child with cognitive difficulties. The job will involve: changing nappies; potty retraining when James shows signs of understanding; playing with James; being responsible for James safety at all times; taking James out in the garden and to the park.
