Winter Semester (January-Mid March) "Expressive Impressionism" takes the core techniques of Impressionism but adds a stronger emphasis on conveying emotion and personal interpretation through more dynamic brushwork, and exaggerated color. This course explores Impressionist themes, techniques, and various impressionistic artists. Students choose their own subjects and mediums while implementing the lessons learned in class. The instructor is an expert in chalk pastel, oil, acrylic, or watercolor. Supplies are available for use but it is encouraged for students to bring their own in order to continue working in their own studio between classes. We can provide a recommended supply list for the medium of choice if needed. Various techniques will be demonstrated to help guide students to their project goals. Winter Semester (January-Mid December) Designed for adults that require some adaptive conditions to create their art. ages 18 and older, For those with special needs but are higher functioning. Adaptive Art is a field that focuses primarily on the students' access to art making despite personal challenges. Art can foster self expression build self-esteem, group participation, self-control and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist. Facilities are wheelchair accessible. Supplies are provided with a $45 fee that will include personal brushes, drawing pencil set and portfolio binder. Please call to see if this is a good fit.

This class consists of 20-30 minutes discussing a topic for the day, then the rest of the time students may chose to work on their own projects or a project focused on the days topic. Students may choose which medium to use as well as the subjects of their pieces. The instructor, Brittney Brown, works mainly in the drawing mediums, however, students may choose to paint.
