This beginner-friendly workshop is a great chance to have some family FUN together on a Saturday morning! We welcome children ages 8+, accompanied by a paying adult. Each person (child and adult) will have their own wheel and create their own pottery pieces! Learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and glazing your work. Come on in and get a taste of what our longer wheel throwing courses are like. We think you're going to get hooked! NOTES: This is a two-day workshop. You will throw your pieces during the first session and glaze them during the second session, after a bisque firing in between. Your final work will be ready two weeks later, after the glaze firing. Your $220 registration includes one child and one adult. We welcome children ages 8+ Children must be accompanied by an adult Each participant will have their own wheel. Limited to 10.

Kids ages 9-13 who love art will thrive in this class where they'll engage in all sorts of art, access great tools and materials, and learn from passionate art educators eager to nurture each artist's unique style and talent. Youth Art Studio is a fun, creative space where kids learn to engage as artists, building creative skills that offer lifelong benefits. They'll learn how to approach, organize and plan creative projects; draw ideas and inspiration from the world of art, nature, or their own personal style and imagination; practice with artistic tools and techniques necessary to bring creative projects to life; build and benefit from a creative community that supports, inspires and perseveres as each artists grows in skill and capability. In our purpose-built, creative studio students will mix it up with projects that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fiber arts, and more! PROJECTS may include: one-of-a-kind Artist Trading Cards (so fun to trade amongst the group!) paper marbling using Suminagashi techniques (fan favorite!) drawing & painting from direct observation (still life & more) bookmaking (folding, glued and hand-sewn bindings) carving a printing block and making multiple prints (Think Andy Warhol) collaging with a variety of materials (paper, fabric, string, etc - the sky's the limit here!) needle-felted objects (using cookie cutters, patterns, and imagination) All tools and materials included.

This week will be a mix of our favorite projects from our popular "Sewing Stuffies and Fiber Arts" class, and more! We'll be working with fabrics, thread, yarn, and dyes. Note: Fabulous Fiber Arts is offered twice during the summer. The techniques may overlap, but the projects are different in each session - so feel free to register for one week or both for double the fun! This week, we'll be mixing it up with a combination of printmaking techniques and bookmaking. We'll be using image transfers, stamping, embossing, scratch boards, and paper marbling to create one-of-a-kind prints. And, to bring it all together, we will use folding, sewing, and clamp binding techniques to create a set of small books. It's going to be chock full of FUN art making and storytelling! Note: Prints & Books is offered twice during the summer. The techniques may overlap, but the projects are different in each session - so feel free to register for one week or both for double the fun! Looking for something fun to do during April Break? Join us for this fun-packed 3-day class, where students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and opening to create their own unique forms. Each student will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period. This class is open to beginner - intermediate level students. If you have never taken pottery before OR if you have taken a pottery class with us and would like to improve your skills, we welcome you all to join us!

Here at the Studio we're stockpiled with art supplies that give young children the chance to explore a variety of topics and activities. Our art projects will reinforce emerging skills as we work on letters, numbers, fine motor skills, and creative expression. This thoughtful combination is designed to expand and stimulate our youngest student’s minds in a fun, art-rich environment. NOTE: We will follow the Winchester Public School Calendar. There will be no Messy Mushy Preschool Art on days when Winchester Public Schools are closed or on half-days (no class on April 23rd). While your child is welcome to register for Messy Mushy on multiple days of the week, please note our curriculum is designed to repeat the same set of projects in each class. We offer after school pick up from Neighborhood Coop Nursery School at 12pm for students attending the half day NCNS program.

This class is for beginning - intermediate level students. Beginning students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and opening to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze their pieces before the final firing. Intermediate level students will be encouraged to take on projects that expand their skills while exploring individual creativity in clay. Projects may include working with larger pieces, more complex forms, creating sets, and experimenting with surface design. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period.

This class is open to beginning students who have never used a wheel as well as students with prior wheel throwing experience, looking to advance their skills. First time students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and pulling walls to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze pieces before the final firing. Experienced students will take their work to the next level: adding attachments like handles and spouts and carving and sculpting texture. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period. Course fee includes access to tools, clay, and glazes.

*Popular class - spots fill quickly!* Join Miss Cherry for some hot cocoa! Students will glaze mugs while sipping hot chocolate. Students will glaze a ceramic mug which will be fired in the kiln & ready for pickup two weeks later. This event is open to all artists ages 8-12years old.
