To wrap up the summer we have remixed and revisited our favorite projects from this summer for a fun filled finale! This week we will experiment with materials such as paint, model magic, and paper marbling - and let our imagination run wild! This week is sure to delight the adventurous artist! This week will be a mix of our favorite projects from our popular "Sewing Stuffies and Fiber Arts" class, and more! We'll be working with fabrics, thread, yarn, and dyes. Note: Fabulous Fiber Arts is offered twice during the summer. The techniques may overlap, but the projects are different in each session - so feel free to register for one week or both for double the fun! Does your child love all things under the sea? We’ve got you covered in our Underwater Animal Adventures week! From drawing, to painting, to dioramas - we will do a little bit of everything this week as we explore undersea creatures. A few of the AWESOME projects for this week include: Undersea diorama with real rocks and sand! Sea creature luminary, sure to light up your life Cuddly woven sea turtle Adorable mixed media jellyfish And so MUCH MORE! Art show will be outdoors on the Common on Thursday at 11:45am, weather permitting.

Kids ages 9-13 who love art will thrive in this class where they'll engage in all sorts of art, access great tools and materials, and learn from passionate art educators eager to nurture each artist's unique style and talent. Youth Art Studio is a fun, creative space where kids learn to engage as artists, building creative skills that offer lifelong benefits. They'll learn how to approach, organize and plan creative projects; draw ideas and inspiration from the world of art, nature, or their own personal style and imagination; practice with artistic tools and techniques necessary to bring creative projects to life; build and benefit from a creative community that supports, inspires and perseveres as each artists grows in skill and capability. In our purpose-built, creative studio students will mix it up with projects that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fiber arts, and more! Each student will leave with a collection of artworks and their own artist-journal documenting processes learned and artistic growth over time. PROJECTS may include: one-of-a-kind Artist Trading Cards (so fun to trade amongst the group!) paper marbling using Suminagashi techniques (fan favorite!) drawing & painting from direct observation (still life & more) bookmaking (folding, glued and hand-sewn bindings) carving a printing block and making multiple prints (kind of like Andy Warhol) collaging with a variety of materials (paper, fabric, string, etc - the sky's the limit here!) needle-felted objects (using cookie cutters, patterns, and imagination) All journals, tools and materials included.

This class is open to beginning students who have never used a wheel as well as students with prior wheel throwing experience, looking to advance their skills. First time students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and pulling walls to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze pieces before the final firing. Experienced students will take their work to the next level: adding attachments like handles and spouts and carving and sculpting texture. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period. Course fee includes access to tools, clay, and glazes.
