Winter Semester (January-Mid March) Glass Fusing is an exciting art were you take various consistencies of glass and fuse them together to make jewelry, vases, plates, coasters or just beautiful décor treasures. Students will explore glass cutting and uses of the types of materials available. Through the step by step guidance by fused glass experts Marty and Brittney. This dad and daughter team helps students will learn to make a variety of different glass pieces. There will be opportunity for many creative choices as students are given tips and techniques that will provide the knowledge needed to make some exciting pieces. This class will primarily focus on techniques used in oil painting to create dynamic pieces. All supplies provided as students explore techniques, learn basics of color theory, and try different mediums used to draw and paint. Students are introduced to the elements and principles of art to create full, functional, and stylish compositions. This class will explore the different mediums used in drawing such as charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, and pastel along with painting in oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolor. This is a beginning class that allows students to test a variety of materials in order to find which medium to continue learning about and then join one of our more in depth classes on that medium. Winter Semester (January-Mid December) Designed for adults that require some adaptive conditions to create their art. ages 18 and older, For those with special needs but are higher functioning. Adaptive Art is a field that focuses primarily on the students' access to art making despite personal challenges. Art can foster self expression build self-esteem, group participation, self-control and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist.
