Join us on a week-long journey as we explore the theater! Puppet theater, that is. Working in small groups, campers will create scripts, sets, and puppets from scratch. They will learn about the history of the theater, as well as what it takes to bring their characters to life. By the end of the week campers will put on their own theatrical performances. The MOCHA Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program gives 6th-8th graders the opportunity to develop their art, customer service, and work experience skills in a supportive, creative museum environment. The CIT program is a 1 week program consisting of camp training, work development skills, and art for the summer. CIT hours are M-F (Depending on Camp schedule) 9:00am-3:30pm. If CIT requires care after camp, they will transition to the aftercare program (3:30pm-5:30pm) at an additional fee of $25 per day. Role & Responsibilities CITs build leadership skills and train as MOCHA Art Camp Counselors. Each CIT will work with staff to prepare and support the Teaching Artist in the class and during all outside activities. CITs support staff members in camper supervision, activity preparation, basic equipment maintenance, and other routine camp duties. Qualifications Willing to working with children Have strong teamwork skills Be a caring and enthusiastic role model for youth/peers ages 5-14 Counselors in Training (CITs) are, first and foremost, role models for campers. CITs participate in most camper activities, adhere to all camp guidelines, and model the MOCHA Camp values respect, kindness, helpfulness, and teamwork. The Bay Area is full of fantastic art museums that are just waiting to inspire our campers. From impressionism to modernism to cubism, we will visit it all. Campers will see photographs, paintings, drawings, and even some sculpture. Days will be filled exploring art museums, strolling by outdoor murals and creating our own art, of course. Each camper will receive a sketchbook to work in during the week and stops will be made en route to complete exciting and engaging art projects.

Let's get up close and personal with famous artists! We will sketch, paint, sculpt, or draw to create masterpieces inspired by a variety of contemporary, historical, women, people of color, and local artists. Camps include weekly field trips.
