Breaking down concepts and helping students comprehend them in a way that suits them best
| I have been tutoring for three years, currently working in an academy in London. I am really passionate about maths so it never does feel like work. I have worked with students from Year 1 up till GCSEs. I am very comfortable working with children due to my experience and am able to communicate with ease. I think it is essential to connect with the student, in order to convey knowledge in a way that they understand as everyone is different. I take pride and joy in my work and will continue to pursue it as a career.

Proofreader/editor & Tutor: Biomedical Science undergraduates & Maths/Chemistry/Biology A-level
| A sample processing officer in a pathology laboratory and Biomedical Science graduate. I undertook placement as a laboratory technician, problem solving, planning and performing several experiments. My experiences equipped me with excellent staff training (one-to-one discussions improving work quality), research skills and creativity with my learning to achieve my goals. Previously helped 5 university students with revision and proofread and edited assignments to achieve their desired grades. All passed and achieved higher than expected (2:1 and 1st). This improved their self-esteem and confidence in believing in their capabilities of being and achieving more, an important self-quality. My aim with sessions is to make learning enjoyable and easier to understand while preparing for exams. I help students connect with topics making them exciting, therefore they feel more optimistic about tackling work and achieving higher grades, by: Identifying learning material, and tutee knowledge in topic they are struggling with and what they want to achieve; planning sessions using tools tailored to their learning style; frequently practicing questions, marked and feedback; using progress reports. Proofreading & editing also offered.

Cambridge Engineering Student teaching Maths and Physics up to AS level
| My teaching method is straightforward. As a student myself, I have found that schools and many tutors encourage their pupils to blindly regurgitate information in exams, which often results in poor grades simply because the time has not been taken to ensure the students understand the fundamental principles of Maths and Physics behind their work. Therefore I begin immediately by systematically identifying gaps in a student's knowledge or understanding without wasting time on their areas of strength. Exam technique is also something that is often ruthlessly mis-sold by tutors. While it can have a huge impact on many exams, especially the PAT and ENGAA, it is a set of skills that can be taught comfortably in very few lessons in almost all cases. It is something that I work on with all students, as often very capable students are held back by their ability to successfully navigate exams. I am also able to make concise and effective notes for my students which can help clarify areas that we have worked and used later for revision. My primary goal is to ensure students achieve their academic goals and to make that process as fun and rewarding as possible.
