Special Needs Care in Ards

| I’ve been in a nursery setting for 3 years and I’ve had experience with special needs and newborn Baby’s. I’ve worked right up to primary 7 and enjoy all the age ranges of the children and I love watching how they grow and develop. I’ve my level 2 in childcare and I did my placement in a primary school close to home. My current job is working as a medical classroom assistant in primary 7 with a child with diabetes, my contact with the school ends in June but from July I’ll have availability for childminding a few days a week.

| I have 3 years experience working in an SLD school and providing respite for 2 children with SLD. I have worked with children with ASD, ADHD, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, global developmental delay and SEBD. I also have a degree in early childhood studies and have nearly finished my PGCE. Through these degrees, I have developed in my patience, creativity and behaviour management.

| I am currently studying primary teaching at Stranmillis and I am very passionate about helping and caring for other. I am a very compassionate, friendly, approachable, trustworthy person with excellent communication skills. I am also a very creative person and love translating this into ways in which I can help support people e.g. with sensory needs. I have 2 years experience working as a classroom assistant in a primary school. Within this time I worked one on one with children with additional needs such as Epilepsy, Down syndrome and Autism. I have also recently completed my level one and two of makaton and this is something I feel very passionate about and want to spread awareness about. Furthermore, I am a valued member of my youth club leadership team at my church where I often work one-on-one with a teenager with Down syndrome. I also volunteer at a youth club for children with special needs as well.
