I have worked in nursing/caring for nearly 11 years. I have mainly worked with the elderly. My duties were varied in the community, from taking clients to day centres and collecting them, and shopping. For the more abled, I would accompany a walk, or take them out in their wheelchair, help with taking their medication, personal care, empty catheters, bath or shower, dressing and grooming, preparing their food and assist with feeding and drinks where required. I would also help with housework duties and read to them. Most of the people I cared for, I helped with what they couldn't do in their daily tasks, due to deterioration in their health, but still wanted the independence of being in their own home. Other clients I have had experience with were amputees. I helped them transfer with the use of slide boards or sheets and hoists. I have also had clients with MS, Dementia and Alzheimer's. On the hospital wards, I have had experience working with the elderly during rehab. I worked with those who suffered a stroke or broken a limb. I helped them to gain their mobility.
I'm caring and considerate by nature, which is why I'm passionate about what I do. I like to provide a care service. I would be happy if that same care was being given to my parents.
