Having spent four years volunteering as a leader at a girl-guiding troop, I knew that I wanted to work with children. As a teenager, I regularly minded and carried out activities with two families, building my confidence in cooking, activity planning, and building a working relationship with both parents, and a trusting connection to those in my care. Studying English Literature locally now at The University of Birmingham, I see for myself hopefully a life in education and academia, but one that also involves working with families and young lives, helping children grow and develop in a safe and nurturing space with opportunities to become the people they are meant to be.
