I am currently a childminder at my own home part time, as I also home educate my son. I studied to be a social worker and worked in frontline services and domestic abuse services as a practice educator and carried out trauma work with children. I have a post graduate certificate in children’s mental health, experience with neuro diverse children and youth work. I absolutely loved working with children and young people, but once my son arrived the work and life balance was a challenge.
I practice gentle parenting approaches with my approach to parenting and children I look after. I am firm and fair and promote autonomy, decision making and curiosity. I spend my days with a very curious 4 year old who loves to question the world, therefore I have become quit a curious adult also. I’m familiar with EYFS, and children have described me as energetic, fun, approachable and kind hearted in the past.
