by Joanne • Wyre
We are looking for someone to support our family by helping with care for our 13 year old son. Responsibilities will include: dressing, hoisting and companionship. Exact days are not important at the moment - we are more interested in hearing from you if you think you might be suitable for this role and seeing what you have to offer. We are flexible and would like the right person where we can discuss the hours you can do, hence why there are no hours set. Please note our son wears pads and does need changing but this may not need to be part of your role.

Learning Support Mentor for EOTAS package
by Mandy • Fylde
Looking to find someone to work as a supporting adult for my 12 year old who is receiving education other than at school (EOTAS). This is a bespoke package of provisions ranging from 1:1 tutoring at home, forest school, occupational therapy input, animal based therapy and accessing the community. Child is autistic and has adhd, anxiety and is currently in burnout. An understanding nature and a willingness to learn is the only qualification needed as full training will be given. It's more important to find the right person who can form a relationship with my child. An interest in gaming and/or anime would help facilitate this but isn't essential. Hours will need building up at first to around 12 currently but scope to increase to 25 as child toleratance increases.

Looking for a support worker who can help a 21 yr old adult with developmental delay to get ready for the day. The person is quite capable of doing his own things but needs prompting sometimes and keeping tab of time that he needs to get ready in time for college. Also preparing his packed lunch and breakfast for him. Timings would be 6:30am-9/9:30am. If they can come some evenings also to give us respite then that will be quite helpful too.

Our boy loves creative arts and physical play. He is not able to access mainstream child care or activities without parents there to support, as he gets overwhelmed. Now he is 9, he wants to do some things away from parents, like his peers do. We are looking for a special person who has the patience and energy to connect with our son, and who is willing to learn about therapeutic approaches to caring for children with attachment issues. His behaviour can be challenging at times, and we will work with whoever takes this post in order to plan ahead and reflect on how sessions have gone. You would not be left alone with him until we were all comfortable with that. Initially we are looking for 2 or 3 after-school sessions (days can be negotiated). We would start with activities in the home, hopefully moving onto local parks and maybe accompanying him to mainstream activities. School holiday working patterns are likely to be different. We live in Kirkham so you would need to be able to get to our home. This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone interested in related careers such as psychology, social work, child care, education or mental health. We can connect you into The Belay Foundation for training, supervision and a network of other SSWs across the country.
