Hi all, I’m currently looking for a live in carer for a male relative in his early eighties living in Oxfordshire who has been diagnosed with dementia. He is in the middle stages and has a partner who currently spends Friday to Sunday with him so would be looking for someone to work Monday to Thursday but would also need the occasional weekend covered and this may increase as things progress further. Ideally we would be looking for someone who likes golf and wouldn't mind playing with my relative. Perhaps has an interest in the Navy and wouldn't mind taking my relative out to the local pub for a drink or keep him entertained in other ways in the evening as he finds around 5pm to 8pm most difficult. We feel at the moment that a social companion is what is mostly required but my relative also has a stoma, which he is handling himself at the moment and sometimes has difficulty with putting his socks on. He would also need to be reminded about medication and helped with meal preparation. And someone to help him do a weekly shop. A driver with a car would be essential. We feel it may be better for the carer to appear more like a friend than a carer, obviously helping him with all the things he may need help with but not necessarily pointing out that this is why they are there etc, if that makes sense? If anyone if interested if they could please message me with a description of themselves, daily rates etc then this would be very much appreciated. I have never had to do this before so have probably missed a lot of vital information out but will happily answer any questions you may have and I thank you for taking the time to read my post.
