My name is Amanda, I am currently working towards my Developmental Service Worker Diploma at Cambrian College. I have also previously completed a Community Service Worker Diploma with George Brown College and have discovered that my interests include working with individuals experiencing life with a developmental disability and seniors. Some courses I have already completed include Basic Nursing Skills I & II, Disability Strategies I & II, Understanding Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Positive Behaviour Supports. I have always had a passion to empower others, connect to others, include others, to not pass judgement on others but to understand others, to educate and to advocate, and to be a part of something bigger than myself that influences positive change in a community. I am committed to working towards an inclusive, educated, accessible and anti-oppressive world that individuals experiencing life with a developmental disability can thrive and grow in. My practicum experience includes direct support professional, client care support and recreation assistant/activities programming. I am qualified in CPR and First Aid, Food Handling and have a current Police Reference Check.
