Part-time university student - responsible - caring - friendly - energetic - fun
|
Hello! I am a part-time university student at McMaster looking for part-time or casual work (short-term, occasional is fine). I am super friendly, responsible, and reliable. I love pets, and have a car for any transport needs.
I have general experience babysitting children without special needs of all ages.
I developed an interest in care-taking for children with special needs when my mother started teaching me how to help care for my sister who was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome (blind, partially deaf, fed via g-tube, speech impairment, and developmentally delayed among other things). I learned in my teens how to administer medications orally and via gastric tube, and had tonnes of exposure to special needs communities and programs. Also familiar with some assistive device technology.
I've provided occasional in-home care for 2 other special needs children, and a couple of times for a non-verbal autistic girl (aged 12).
I have no official training or education in special needs care, but lots of personal and hands-on experience, which makes me feel comfortable looking after children who medically, emotionally, or cognitively require more challenging care.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
