As outlined in my resume, I have over 10 years of experience working with special needs kids as a Special Needs Assistant at Toronto District School Board (2004-present). In this capacity, I have developed the expertise in behavior shaping, and assisting in the academic, communication skills and functional living skills instruction of children with developmental disabilities, including autism. Additionally, through the workshops and training courses that I continually participate in, including BMS, CPI and ABA, I have become adept at managing challenging behaviours, and using non-violent intervention methods. My familiarity with the Early Reading Intervention Program helped develop and improve reading skills in students who are at risk. I also work as a respite worker since 2009.
