The Managing Principal of an architecture firm is seeking a Support Worker and Personal Assistant. The ideal candidate will support the needs of a 23-year-old special needs young adult daughter of the Managing Principal, within a blended household consisting of his wife with two live-in teenage children. The primary responsibility of this role is as a support worker and part-time companion to his 23-year-old daughter in Kitsilano, and also involves part time working downtown in the architecture office as a Personal Assistant and administrative duties.
The 23-year-old daughter has a joyful and fun personality yet has special needs and challenges, requiring support and companionship during the weekdays. The ideal candidate must adore youth, be relaxed, and confident. Specific days will be focused on working in the home with his daughter and between provide assistance in the office with his busy schedule. This individual is expected to take an active role and develop a meaningful relationship with family members, as well as acting as a companion for and supporting the daughter’s activities and emotional development.

• Activities and running errands will require the operation of a motor vehicle (provided)
RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to)
Support Worker:
• Companionship and oversight of teenager/young adult’s special needs.
• Facilitating of teenager/young adult’s activities and daily life.
• Driving teenager/young adult to appointments and activities when needed; motor vehicle provided.
• Assisting in the planning of events such as birthdays, holidays, parties.
• Special projects in the household
• Simple meal prep for daughter, and other related tasks for meal preparation
Personal Assistant:
• Liaising with his wife and Executive Assistant for the prioritization and coordination of family and work schedules.
• Liaising with Executive Assistant for scheduling and coordinating of parenting schedule.
• Reception coverage and other office duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Drivers License
• Local to Vancouver & able to commute to Kitsilano
• Education and/or relevant experience in Social Work, Caregiving, assisting teenagers or young adults with special needs
• Full vaccination for COVID-19
$429 - $55135 Hr. / Week

Key Responsibilities:
1. Morning Routine (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM):

◦ Ensure client is comfortable and prepared for the day.
2. Evening Routine (8:00 PM - 10:00 PM, as needed):
◦ Assist with evening grooming and changing into sleepwear.
◦ Aid with the bedtime routine.
◦ Ensure client is comfortable and settled for the night.
3. Additional Duties:
◦ Monitor client's general well-being and report any changes or concerns.
◦ Maintain a clean and safe environment for the client.
◦ Light household duties
Requirements:
• Previous experience in personal care or a similar role.
• Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs of the client.
• Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting min. 85lbs and assisting with mobility.
• Strong communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Flexibility to work evenings on an as-needed basis.
• Optional: travel domestically and internationally 5-6 times a year from 1 week to 1 month, it varies.
Benefits:
• Regular hours with a guaranteed minimum of 4 hours paid daily, even if fewer hours are worked.
Note: This position is offered as a subcontractor role. The hired individual will be responsible for managing their own taxes and benefits.

She is really sweet and follows directions easily she needs help to get to washroom, wash hands, feeding and putting her into bed. Other then that she likes to be watching her “monster inc” and using her iPad. She can not walk but is able to walk with support she can crawl very well she knows how to go up and down stairs on her own with supervision. She understands everything but speaks very little, she knows sign language.
