This role includes helping with daily tasks, personal care, and household chores, while encouraging independence and ensuring safety. The right candidate will provide a caring and supportive home environment. Responsibilities As a Caregiver, you will help with personal care tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and reminding the elder about hygiene habits, such as washing hands. Meal preparation will involve following a breakfast plan, making meals in bulk for reheating, and preparing fresh lunches and dinners daily. You will also do quick, daily grocery shopping at a nearby store to keep ingredients fresh. You’ll assist with mobility, helping reduce fall risks while promoting the elder’s independence. This includes walking support and ensuring she uses her cane and safety belt. Medication management is part of the role, including administering eye drops and other prescribed treatments. Companionship and activities are important parts of this role. You’ll join the elder in classes, walks, and visits to gardens or conservatories, offering meaningful conversations and emotional support. Additionally, you will accompany her to medical appointments, ensuring she is prepared and comfortable. Housekeeping tasks include cleaning, tidying, laundry, and changing bed linens to keep the home clean and safe. You’ll also watch for any changes in her health and report concerns. Maintaining a safe and clutter-free living space is essential. You will also help with walking and feeding the dog as needed. It’s important to respect her privacy and keep all personal and medical information confidential. Qualifications • Experience in caregiving, especially for people with dementia (preferred). • Kind, reliable, and detail-oriented. • Able to do light housekeeping and prepare meals. • First Aid Certified. • Clean criminal record check. (Nov. 24, 2024) We need to celebrate that and continue the healing at home in a house with stairs. Need a person with geriatric rehabilitation physiotherapy experience and training to assist/encourage post open heart surgery chest/arm exercises at home for a healing post operative person with the additional challenge of a longstanding rheumatoid arthritis in the knee. Limited range of motion in knee. The caregiver needs to accept and work within that reality as it is at present and lack of desire of patient to accept help. (Limited motion in right leg due to knee arthritis.) Accept limitations at current healing state. i.e. Person is not allowed to make their bed due to the risk of cross body movements and lifting. (Advice is from surgeon, doctors, and nurses.) They can get up to do light cooking, lift a 1/2 litre kettle, walk in the house, walk to a warm vehicle to be driven. I am searching for someone to live in my 90 year old mothers home, for free, in exchange for the occasional night she requires assistance. She is 90 years old with UTI induced delirium, she has care during the day from 8:30AM-8PM. We need someone to be in the home for the odd time she needs help during the night (getting to the washroom, in case of a fall etc.) This is not an hourly paid position.
