About Leigh

After I graduated from college I moved abroad and taught elementary students, specifically 3rd and 5th grade. I taught at an American school where a U.S. curriculum was used. I have a lot of experience working with students with all different learning styles and learning levels. During teaching a lot of my time was focused on reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and writing due to the fact that all of the students spoke English as a second language and needed a lot of practice and reinforcement. I loved working with kids and it made my job very rewarding to see students improve throughout the year. Most of the time children need to be exposed to different learning styles in order to have a better understanding of a subject. Therefore, I spent a lot of time planning games and activities that would encourage and stimulate their learning and help them to understand better. Although my main job was teaching, I had a few students I would tutor after school and enjoyed working one on one with them. I helped them with their homework and would create extra activities that would help them in areas they were lacking. I tutored mostly students who needed help with their reading comprehension and writing skills. However I would check their homework in all subject areas and provide help if needed. I love working with children and truly enjoy their personalities. I am currently studying to become a nurse, but would love the opportunity to use the experience I have gained and continue working with children while in school.
