About Andrea

Hello, I was a 4th grade math teacher for 5 years in Nashville. Now I am currently in graduate school at Pacific University for Speech Language Pathology. I am very familiar with the math standards of K-4. I am passionate about building students number sense and overall understanding of math through various methods and scaffolds. I also have lots of experience teaching reading through evidence based practices. I have taught reading in small groups for five years and have had success at teaching struggling 4th grade students how to read. I'd describe my personality as patient, caring, and motivated. I like tutoring because it helps me respond to kids learning needs directly. In my spare time, I like to hike, cook, and play board games. One thing you should know about me is I create personalized goals and lesson for each student or group. My skills include building number sense, creating an encouraging environment, and building math confidence.
