Domesticated about 9500 years ago, cats are as popular as dogs as a choice of pet. Though some believe cats to be aloof, most cats are warm, familiar, and highly trainable. Known for their love of high places and their ability to right themselves during a jump or fall, cats also exhibit that satisfying sound which draws so many people to them as pets--they purr. While cats don't really have nine lives, as folklore states, they do add great value to the lives of their owners and in turn show their happy disposition--when cared for by a loving family.
