Your artist will practice using a variety of paint media including, watercolor, tempera, acrylic paint, inks and more. We’ll focus on techniques such as color mixing, value, resist, and texture on a variety of surfaces all while creating a gallery of art. Note: Painting Adventures is offered twice during the summer. The techniques may overlap, but the projects are different in each session - so feel free to register for one week or both for double the fun! Some of the AWESOME projects we will make this week: Acrylic still-life on canvas Watercolor shadow shape Painted pet rock And so much more!! Art Show outdoor on the Common, Friday at 4:15pm (weather permitting)!

Adult Pottery on the Wheel: Intermediate

This course is designed for intermediate potters who want to level up their skills by creating advanced forms including goblets, platters, serving bowls, and pitchers. Each class, we will demonstrate a new form and surface design techniques. Pre-requisites for this course are that you have taken at least one Adult Pottery on the Wheel class at Studio on the Common or a similar course elsewhere OR you can confidently center 3 to 5 lbs of clay on the wheel and pull a cylinder form from it. If you don't meet those prerequisites, we are still offering multiple beginner courses at Studio on the Common for you to learn and practice the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing. Open Studio time is included with your registration. Additional clay can be purchased at the studio.

Kids ages 9-13 who love art will thrive in this class where they'll engage in all sorts of art, access great tools and materials, and learn from passionate art educators eager to nurture each artist's unique style and talent. Youth Art Studio is a fun, creative space where kids learn to engage as artists, building creative skills that offer lifelong benefits. They'll learn how to approach, organize and plan creative projects; draw ideas and inspiration from the world of art, nature, or their own personal style and imagination; practice with artistic tools and techniques necessary to bring creative projects to life; build and benefit from a creative community that supports, inspires and perseveres as each artists grows in skill and capability. In our purpose-built, creative studio students will mix it up with projects that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fiber arts, and more! Each student will leave with a collection of artworks and their own artist-journal documenting processes learned and artistic growth over time. PROJECTS may include: one-of-a-kind Artist Trading Cards (so fun to trade amongst the group!) paper marbling using Suminagashi techniques (fan favorite!) drawing & painting from direct observation (still life & more) bookmaking (folding, glued and hand-sewn bindings) carving a printing block and making multiple prints (kind of like Andy Warhol) collaging with a variety of materials (paper, fabric, string, etc - the sky's the limit here!) needle-felted objects (using cookie cutters, patterns, and imagination) All journals, tools and materials included.
