Winter Semester (January-Mid March) "Expressive Impressionism" takes the core techniques of Impressionism but adds a stronger emphasis on conveying emotion and personal interpretation through more dynamic brushwork, and exaggerated color. This course explores Impressionist themes, techniques, and various impressionistic artists. Students choose their own subjects and mediums while implementing the lessons learned in class. The instructor is an expert in chalk pastel, oil, acrylic, or watercolor. Supplies are available for use but it is encouraged for students to bring their own in order to continue working in their own studio between classes. We can provide a recommended supply list for the medium of choice if needed. Various techniques will be demonstrated to help guide students to their project goals. Through the step by step guidance of an instructor students are encouraged to develop their own style and ideas while exploring drawing, pen and ink illustration, and watercolor. Perspective can make or break an art piece! Come learn some tips and tricks on creating perspective with Art House artist and instructor Brittney Brown. This workshop runs for 3 weeks from 10am-12pm on Wednesdays starting January 15. Each week we will focus on a different kind of perspective starting with one point, then two point, and finish with multiple perspectives in one drawing. We will be working in graphite pencil which is the easiest medium to practice and learn perspective, though once you learn how you can apply your new understanding of perspective to any art piece and medium!
