Winter Semester (Jan-Mar) This semester we will be studying art movements that created special effects that created a glowing effect to their work. These Luminist included Dutchbpainters from the 1600’s, Hudson River School along with modern versions of these techniques from Thomas Kincaid and Greg Olsen. This art movement will be the inspiration for the projects done in this class. We will also cover the techniques and different styles found in the art movements of California and how to make a successful composition in these styles. Students bring their own supplies and pick the subject they will be painting or drawing. It is preferred that students work from life or photos and not from other artist's' compositions. It is helpful to look at various artists work of each movement but then create your own version. For example your subject could be a fruit bowl, a landscape, or even a car. If you prefer acrylic, pastel, watercolor, gouache, pencil, oil, or other medium our instructor will help you in the techniques applied to create a successful composition. This course is individual enough for beginners to experts with a willingness to explore and stretch their creativity. It covers compositional skills and art knowledge. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) Not a little kid any more and not yet a teen, this class is designed for middle school aged children, the in be'tween' age. In this class your tween will learn different painting techniques and work on improving their skills while learning a little about art history. Students are encouraged to develop their own style and ideas while exploring different mediums, styles, and artists. In this class your child will refine their fine motor skills as they learn to draw, paint, and sculpt, while also learning a little art history. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) This class is recommended for ages 10+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing and anime. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. (Not the "Pocket" version) Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. With the guidance of professional artist, Anita Robbins, you will create an original, textured, work of art. This workshop runs for 4 weeks every Wednesday in January. This is a mixed medium painting workshop. During this workshop you will learn how acrylic and texture create a number of archival techniques for a quality substrate. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) If you’re in middle school and a fan of action, fantasy, art, or anything in that vein, then come join the Dungeons & Dragons Game & Art class! This class is a fusion of traditional art projects and social team-building games; we will be learning how to draw and sketch quickly as we act out characters in a narrative, while also creating maps, portraits, and inventory sheets to fully design and flesh out a character of our own. This class will help you learn how to build worlds, create characters, and work with others on a personal and group basis. Adaptive Art is a field that focuses primarily on the students' access to art making despite personal challenges. Art can foster self expression build self-esteem, group participation, self-control and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist.
