Focusing on detail and the clay coil technique, students will mold a delicious splendor of this season's harvest in miniature. After immersing themselves in the tactile world of 3D modeling, they’ll top off their creations with color to really bring it to life and leave with an overflowing cornucopia.

In commemoration of the fall harvest, we're learning about the three sisters... a traditional indigenous practice of companion planting. This is a method of growing specific plants in a community rather than rows, because together we grow better! Students will combine ink and markers, focusing on contrast and form to depict their subject. Exploring the different outcomes of texture and value, we’ll discover how this group of plants can also help each other pop on the page. Perfect class for children ages 7-9 years old. 90-min class We will use a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic & tempera paints, oil pastels, mixed media, and clay for our intermediate classes throughout the school-year! Join us on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday each week... or whenever it's convenient for you! We do the same project each of those days for each week, and then something new for the next week!

Monochromatic Still Life: For this project students will expand their understanding of value and observational drawing skills as they depict a collaborative still life. Students will work together incorporating personal objects to set up a dynamic landscape that they will then observe and draw using a single color. This weekly 2-hour class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. Students can choose to come on Tuesdays, or Thursdays, or both! Whatever works best for your schedule. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects, and they have more autonomy in how their projects go. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. Recommended for ages 10-16.
