Each morning, our studio is thoughtfully prepared with rotating art and sensory invitations that encourage children to paint, pour, scoop, squish, build, mix, experiment, and explore at their own pace. This class is designed to help our young artists learn and develop fine art skills that will also help them in writing and problem solving! Your child will be drawing, painting, and sculpting. Classes also expose them to art history. They are encouraged in their self expression while also learning to follow directions. Our projects are always new and engaging as they continue to grow in their abilities. We desire to build confidence and support their strengths. Once a month CHS stays open after dark for a relaxed, social evening of art, pizza, and friends — while grown-ups get a night of their own! This month artists will create hanging sculptures from carefully selected and painted wood blocks. We'll choose our shapes and paint them. While everything dries, we'll eat cheese pizza. Then we'll return to the art room to string them all up to create beautiful, unique hanging assemblages. We'll wind down with art films before the night ends at 8:45. Mixed ages 5–10. Little ones get more help and big kids get more room to run with it. This one isn't from our regular class curriculum — weekly students won't be repeating anything they've done. We’re getting our hands dirty with clay! Students will try a fun new technique to create a decorative Pebble Bowl using air-dry clay. We’ll experiment with clay balls to build a unique bowl design and then add paint to finish it off. Art Lessons perfect for ages 4-6 years. 1-hour class We will use a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic & tempera paints, oil pastels, mixed media, and clay for our beginner classes throughout the school-year! Join us on Tuesday or Saturday each week... or whenever it's convenient for you! We do the same project each of those days for each week, and then something new for the next week! Dress for a mess! Please! We use acrylic paints and sometimes they are difficult to remove from clothes!

This month we are focusing on learning about portrait drawing/painting! As requested by many of our Advanced students, Miss Hailey will be teaching the basics of portraiture, including proper techniques for proportions and how to capture expression. Art lessons for ages 10+ 2-hr class. This weekly class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. Students can choose to come on Tuesdays, or Thursdays, or both! Whatever works best for your schedule. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects, and they have more autonomy in how their projects go. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. We typically start a new project at the beginning of each month. Recommended for ages 10-16.

Our beloved class is starting again this fall. Children and their caregivers come together for a 50 minute class of music, story time and art. It is a beautiful time to connect, create and explore with one another.

Fall Semester Session One (August-October) This class is recommended for ages 10+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing and anime. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. We will study what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters.
