Winter Semester (January-December) Students are expected to have a basic understanding of the color wheel and color mediums (oil pastel, colored pencils, acrylic paint, watercolor, etc) This class is for students wanting to build on the basics of painting and drawing by diving deep into color theory. Students use elements and principles of design to create full, functional, and stylish compositions while focusing on various color schemes and theories. Through the step by step guidance of an instructor students are encouraged to develop their own style and ideas while exploring techniques of painting and impressionism. This class explores shading to create a 3 dimensional drawing, color theory, basics of starting a drawing, and more. This class will explore the different mediums used in drawing such as charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, and pastel along with painting in oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolor. This is a beginning class that allows students to test a variety of materials in order to find which medium to continue learning about and then join one of our more in depth classes on that medium. Students will explore glass cutting and uses of the types of materials available. Through the step by step guidance by fused glass experts Marty and Brittney. This dad and daughter team helps students will learn to make a variety of different glass pieces. There will be opportunity for many creative choices as students are given tips and techniques that will provide the knowledge needed to make some exciting pieces.
