This week in art class, students will focus on creating self- portraits. We'll start with detailed pencil sketches, emphasizing individual facial features. Following this, students will enhance their portraits using hot and cold colors, exploring how different hues can express mood and personality. This project will help improve drawing skills and understanding of color theory. Perfect class for children ages 7-9 years old. 90-min class Children will be exposed to a variety of mediums and work on building up new skills.

Students will work on a collaborative, heart-themed mural inspired by the contemporary British artist James Goldcrown. Perfect for this month of love. Students will work on individual canvases that will be collaborated into a united mural that will be displayed at the shop and later dismantled for each to take a piece home. This weekly 2-hour class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

In our upcoming art class, we will be creating pieces inspired by the vibrant and expressive abstract works of Alma Thomas, a pioneering African-American artist celebrated for her unique style and impactful legacy. We'll explore Thomas’ signature use of joyful, mosaic-like patterns and bright, precise brushstrokes, which she derived from her appreciation of nature and the cosmos. Our project will involve each student choosing a natural or celestial theme as their muse and reinterpreting it in Thomas's distinctive style, using bold colors and dynamic compositions. This exercise promises to be not only a creative exploration but also a meaningful homage to one of the first African-American women to receive a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Art Lessons perfect for ages 4-6 years. 1-hour class We will use a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic & tempera paints, oil pastels, mixed media, and clay for our beginner classes throughout the school-year!

Join us for this weekly painting classs for all ages! Our teacher will guide you through a step-by-step acrylic on canvas painting, but if you want to add your own ideas and personality to your painting - we encourage it! This is a class for all, both children and adults are welcome! We will be painting on an 11x14 stretched canvas using acrylic paints.
