This class focuses on the voice and body as the actor's instruments of expression. Classwork may include breathing techniques, posture and alignment, vocal exercises, different movement styles, and more. Students will explore the connections between physical, psychological, and emotional choices and responses, utilizing these skills to help create fully embodied, believable characters. This class is designed for students seeking to develop their singing voice while focusing on various styles and composers. Topics to be covered include: sight reading/sight singing; portraying character through song; singing harmonies in duets and small groups; and singing with confidence. This is an upper level Junior PPC Class - students wanting to enroll in this class should have two years of Broadway Ballads and Bops prior. Stories have been a primary source of information and entertainment for millenia--and they’re told in so many ways! How stories evolve as they move from a script to a staged production is the focus of this course. We consider how we show-and-tell stories through writing, acting, costumes, and props. We work together to create characters through voice, movement, and music to bring the stories alive on stage. Throughout the course, we collaborate with classmates as we explore a variety of theatrical forms and experiences including improv! This is a technique class that does not result in a production. Broadway Dance Beginnings is three in one style dance class. Combo dance classes teach children the beginning fundamentals of jazz, tap, and ballet. Dancers will gain flexibility, basic technique, and self-confidence through repetitive motor skill, coordination and rhythm practice. This class is geared towards the beginning performer that has participated in a Theatre Summer Camp or just loves to be on stage! Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap steps in the Broadway style. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. One year minimum of tap experience is required for this class. This is an introductory music theory class that teaches the basics of rhythm reading, note identification, and playing your vocal line on the piano. No previous experience is required. NO CLASSES OR REHEARSALS: Saturday, March 15th through Saturday, March 22nd

This class is for young artists seeking to develop their singing voice while learning songs in a variety of musical theatre genres and styles. Topics to be covered include: developing strength in the belt, mix and head voices; healthy singing habits; music reading and sight-singing; and portraying character through song. The class will primarily focus on ensemble singing with solo work interspersed throughout the group songs. This is a PPC Junior / Level 2 vocal class. Most students take this class for four semesters (2 years). The intermediate dancer can process more complicated sequences, can execute barre exercises with greater speed and accuracy and is expected to coordinate arm and leg movements smoothly.
