About me
Hello!
I'm Rachel, a special needs teacher working in Auckland.
I have a real enthusiasm working with young children and/ or children with special needs and would love the opportunity to work with you!
I have taught for 3 years both primary and secondary aged pupils with ASD, Down's syndrome, Angelmans Syndrome Epilepsy and Global developmental delay.
I also have 3 years experience as a Nursery Nurse and more recently nannying 2 boys under 5 and a young adult with epilepsy.
My specialism is communication and believe that every child should have a voice. I have experience using Makaton, PODD, ALD's, PECS and high-tech devises including; eye gaze, grid and PODD.
I also have experience working with children with physical disabilities. I am able to follow Physio programs, if shown, and use walkers and chairs, as appropriate to the child.
I am a creative individual and have held the position of head of art across key stage 3 and 4. I'm not afraid to get messy and have some fun!
