Special Needs Care in Penrith

| I am self-employed and have worked within the care industry for a total of 4 years. I am currently employed via an agency however it would be great if I could seek my own clients too. I have worked as a health care assistant for the previous 2 years. Within my degree I have been exposed to different client groups and I thoroughly enjoyed my learning disability placement and found a passion for supporting individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities to fulfil independence in their daily living. I am currently in my final year of my children’s nursing degree which I will graduate from in 2020.

| I have worked with a 21 year old who has cerebral palsy and other disabilities for just under a year. Because of his severe disabilities I have learnt about hoisting, I have learnt quite a lot of makaton, and I will soon be going on a refresher first aid course, a hoisting course and a medicine course. I have become a tutor for this man as well. We do some very basic spellings (which he spells out of an alphabet board), learning to sign colours, and also things like jigsaws and colouring in so we are engaging his brain and making him use his arms. I absolutely love my job here, but as it’s only part time, I am looking for another part time job.
