I currently work for a care agency. I have previously worked 2 years in domiciliary care.
Before this I worked for BUPA home healthcare providing care for paediatrics with complex healthcare needs. There was a 10 year old child who had a neuromuscular degenerative condition who was ventilated through a tracheostamy. He is physically disabled and required complete personal care. His care included medications administered with his feed which was fed through a gastronomy tube via a mickey button. He required regular suctioning and positioning to prevent bed sores. I cared for two twin boys who were 4 and were near the end of their life. This was more palliative care. Both the boys required regular positioning to retain a patent airway and regular medication to ease their pain and the amount of seizures they had. They both had emergency medication to control seizure activity and for pain relief. I cared for a 3 year old girl who was born at 24 weeks premature. She had a tracheostamy and reqiured regular suctioning. I also cared for a 2 year old boy who was blind and had a form of physical disability. He was fed via a feed pump through out the night and was prone to seizures.
