I’m an enthusiastic and dedicated carer, with 8 years’ experience with people with additional needs.

Experience
I have been supporting people with additional needs since 2016. Working at a disabilities summer camp, I provided 1:1 support for children and adults with cerebral palsy, Rett’s disease and global development delay. Whilst at university, I supported a lady with multiple sclerosis and a boy with autism and ADHD. I provided care and companionship, assistance with daily living tasks and household cleaning. After graduating, I worked as a senior autism behavioural therapist in a school setting, developing key behaviour and crisis management skills. More recently, working as a Research Assistant within the Down syndrome consortium at King’s College London, I have been exploring the health of those with DS and how best we can support people across their lives.
Skills
I have developed key empathetic skills, allowing me to respectfully support clients whilst always promoting individual autonomy. I have grown a repertoire of communication skills allowing me to converse effectively with those with communication difficulties. I am extremely confident in calmly and safely handling complex behavioural incidents. I am comfortable handling medication, providing First Aid support and following medical support plans.
