I have the following qualifications: Canine First Aid, Dog Grooming level 2 City and Guilds and am currently studying the level 3 diploma. I also have the level 2 Canine Care, Training and Management City and Guilds diploma and am currently undertaking level 3. I have also completed the Professional Dog Walker diploma and Pet sitter diploma through Compass. I have also had various small furries throughout my life and have been a fosterer for Little Angels Rabbit Rescue for around 2 years. My career before this was in Financial Services and I opted to take voluntary severance in order to set up my own business doing something I love. The only reference I need was something my nan said before she died: "When I die I want to come back as one of your dogs". Your pet will not be in better hands during its stay with me.

Having now given up my job at a college in London, I am looking to follow my passion in caring for animals. I'm in the process of setting up my own pet sitting/dog walking business. I have grown up with dogs including a Labrador, Cairn terrier and an Alsatian as well as cats. This included their basic care such as walks, feeding and of course cuddles! I have looked after friends and families pets (dogs, cats and fish) whilst they've been on holiday. I'm happy to do whatever is necessary in terms of walks, cleaning litter trays, watering plants and collecting post. I don't own a dog at present due to my previous working hours, but I have a very naughty cat and look to get a dog soon. Although I know the basic commands (sit, heel and stay) I am currently taking a Level 2 Dog Walking certificate to give me additional insight in to the way a dogs mind works. I absolutely adore animals and I love playing fetch as much as I love watching cats chase laser pens. My favourite thing is by far cuddles though! Me and my two young male cats were very lucky to find Mel, and be her first 'official' clients. Mel's passion for looking after, and being extremely welcoming and comfortable around new animals, was clear from the minute she arrived. It was my first trip away from them too, and she made sure she kept in touch with updates etc. She also took in her stride that both had had recent surgery, and also watered my large garden on her two visits a day. On my return she left a lovely message and was right, her visits had brought my little ones confidence out no end, and she even bought him his own laser pen. A lovely cat sitting relationship has hopefully begun and I feel very confident in using Mel again... And the kitties can't wait... As a dog lover I have a keen interest in getting to know the dog and getting the best out of them.
| I have personally rehomed greyhounds coming from injuries that retire them from the track, to highly mistreated greyhounds which have very specific issues that you have to be flexible in your approach to when working with them. This began at very young age so I have learnt to deal with a dog that is trained to hunt small animals. With working and living with these dogs I have learnt a multitude of different skills and behaviours that ordinary dog walkers wouldn't have to face. A hyper vigilance to potential situations arising at any given moment when walking an ex racer is unrivalled and a high level of patients and calmness is required to keep both the dog I am with and the general public safe. I have found in my experience that the best way to gain trust and understanding of the dog is to walk them and give them a feeling of confidence and security along with fun.
