Hi, I started in care work in 1992 while I was in Canada. I met my husband in Malta so cutting short I went out to Canada and it gave me a wealth of knowledge supporting people with varying illnesses. I worked with Karen who had MS, Winnie, an elderly lady with Parkinson's, and Fr Khiet with Motor Neurone Disease. I came back to Edinburgh Christmas day 1998 and started as a care assistant in Ashbourne care home at Roseburn. I joined J. B Nursing Agency at Morningside later that same year and did lots of work in various care homes all over Edinburgh. I stayed with J. B on and off till June 2005. Before that I mostly did work with people with learning/physical disabilities which I loved doing. There were about 4 different places that I went to on a regular basis. Unfortunately I have not worked since 2005 due to health reasons myself but one thing that's certain is that I have not forgotten anything. And, anyway, if you're a person that wants to go into doing caring/supporting people it wouldn't matter how long its been since a person worked, that something that is in people who go into the caring of other people, won't leave. What I need is for someone to give me a chance to prove myself.
