I have spent my working life working around children in both primary and secondary schools but have never thought of childcare as a career until now. Most people would expect a childcare provider to be a young woman fresh from college but I believe that my lifetimes experience of bringing up my own children is far more valuable than any paper qualifications. My own children are now 27, 25 and 22 - all are successful young adults with good jobs and excellent career prospects, and are polite, decent independent people who are a credit to my child rearing skills. I know that despite many years working in offices, my true love is looking after children and quite honestly now that mine are grown up I really do miss caring for children, giving them love and affection, reading to them and helping them learn, and helping them learn to grow up.
