Mothers Help for our daughter with special needs in Bramhall, Stockport £16/hr
by Caroline • Stockport
Hello,
We are looking for someone with availability to help us with our daughter. Our current mothers helper is finishing after 4 years so we need some extra help in the house helping her work towards her independence, goals, activities and general daily routine.
She has some special needs - blindness and cerebral palsy (mobile when in her splint)
She is bright, energetic, full of fun, and is constantly wanting to learn and engage in new experiences. Very chatty too!
We also have two cheeky cavachon dogs in the house that are her companions / therapy dogs
We are generally looking for some help for some of the mornings before school, some help with some bedtime evenings and some weekend mornings before her activity clubs (£16/hr).
If you are interested in any of the above (does not have to be all the shifts) please get in touch
As we are looking at part time hours it could possibly suit someone with maybe another job or around someone’s studies. At this moment we do not have any set days or necessarily set times in mind, so are willing to discuss what availability someone has if they feel they are interested in working for us with any of the areas we are looking at.
All we ask is that you are kind, fun, sociable, caring and empathetic. Maybe have some experience working with children with special needs, but definitely experience in childcare or the care industry, and can provide an up to date DBS.
Kind regards,
Caroline and Adam (parents)

Caroline and I are parents to P, our 11 year old daughter.
She is a bright, active and energetic.
She has a blend of challenges including : Blind (some very slight resdidual perception to light but no useful sight) , cerebal palsy (one side, she is very mobile), tube fed (although does eat and drink orally just not 100%), and others.
So while she is a very engaging sociable young lady she also has her challenges and she needs full time one2one for her own safety. She also has some learning challenges and is tracking behind, but she can learn, and wants to learn, but she has a habit of talking through her toys so often it’s a toy doing the activity not her. This can be frustrating and we are trying to change it but it’s a long game.
We have two lovely dogs called woody and barney (Cavachons) who 'help' a lot, while they aren't trained therapy dogs they basically play that role.
We have been talking about getting some additional support for the family for a while (we already have some hours from a local care agency), but this has been brought sharply into focus as Caroline has been admitted to hospital for a few days and will require recovery time once home.
We’re looking for someone who can support us mostly in the evenings, and at weekends, but with some likely afternoons as well. This isn’t fixed, it’s more important to find the right person for our family and then work a mutually agreeable arrangement.
We’re based in Bramhall, SK7.
Kind Regards
Adam
