This is a live-in position - You must be a cheerful, patient companion, motivator and mentor for a happy and spirited 12-year-old girl with special needs. Applicants must speak good English and may very well have Spanish as a first language. The position is open to both male and female, who are physically fit, strong and healthy and have at least 2 years’ experience with special needs children. You must be family orientated with strong Christian beliefs and be entitled to live and work in the UK. A DRB check, first aid certificate and OFSTED registration process will be required to satisfy legal requirements. Applicants must be academically competent, but not necessarily a graduate. The job position will consist of supporting Destinee with her regular tasks such as getting ready for school, doing house chores associated to D (washing, cleaning, ironing, home cooked healthy meals, etc), helping D with her speech therapy, maths, English, science, etc, and other daily routines such as bath time, reading, dressing, etc. You will be required to do training and courses to better assist D with her speech therapy, fine and gross motor skills, and related activities. You must also hold a full driving licence. We are looking for someone aged 40 and over either male or female to join the family. Our daughter is quite spirited and enjoys environments that stimulate her thirst for learning but also encourage her to help herself. She has delayed development and still has a way to go with some of her basic independent needs. The person is required to have enough understanding of special needs children and have a very calm and caring nature and understand that this is a very dedicated position and must know the difference between observing, teaching and guidance as opposed to entertainment and stimulation. Also, they must have a clear idea of when to use the appropriate approach and to implement prescribed teaching such as speech and language practice and alternative maths tasks.

I am looking for a carer to help me, Lewis and Katie on Saturday morning (8am - 10am), Sunday all day (9am - 5pm), Thursday night (6pm - 11pm) and a Monday morning (8am - 1pm). 20 hours per week in total with the possibility of over time if/when needed.
