Looking for Pa's to support my son who is 19, is Autistic and has Moderate Learning Disability
by Karen • Selby
I am looking for carers to build a team on a long term basis to support my 19 year old son who is autistic, has moderate LD and other complex needs. He is supported on a 2-2-1 basis and so the package of hours we have to fill reflects this.
There are an extensive amount of hours and shifts available to choose from as we are trying to replicate an independant living type arrangement for him but in our own home. Hours currently advertised are for term times only however, outside of term times, full days will be needing to be covered in half terms and holidays with flexibility required. Over time, there will be opportunities to work on night shifts whcih will be be introduced on a needs must/flexible basis as well as accompanying him and sometimes the family on holidays and respite breaks away from home should you have the availability and capacity to do so.
* He needs support across the board with everything from getting up and ready for College 4 days a week to being here when he gets home and full days and evenings when he is not at college, Help with meals, going out to evening activities several nights per week, to verbal prompting and mirroring for him most tasks he needs to do. * It will also involve ensuring he takes his meds, develops life skills inc household chores as well as going out to lots of things he finds fun - cinema, theatre and concerts, days/meals out, photography, swimming, playing on his PS5, watching movies and YouTube and more. We live not far from Selby. Car driver needed but only to get to us as car will be provided when working with my son.
