Our eldest is going to college from September and our youngest has an EHCP (SEND support plan) with funding for Education other than at school (EOTAS). Therefore we are seeking a learning support assistant/ mentor. We educate in a child-led approach which means moving with the young person's interests and supporting what they would like to learn about. Our house is well set up for this and contains many books, resources, computers etc as well as a garden. We are looking for someone who is able to come to our home to support with learning and wellbeing as well as to encourage our young person out into the community, which will mean being able to go with them on trips out and supporting them in a person-centered way. A driver would be preferred however we would consider a non-driver if they were the right person. Trust and connection are going to be very important as our young person is autistic, has situational mutism and high levels of anxiety - particularly socially. Finding someone that our YP is comfortable with far outweighs qualifications. We have funding for 10 hours per week which will require flexibility at first while we work out how this fits in with our busy lives and what is best for our YP. If this is something that you feel would be a good fit for you please don't hesitate to get in touch.
