We are seeking a fun, confident and proactive Support Worker to work with D, 10 years old, and his younger sisters aged 8 and 5. D is a cheerful, attentive and engaging little boy who loves to read books, listen to stories and play games. He has cerebral palsy and autism and requires some extra help with certain tasks, due to his condition. This will include assisting him with his personal care routines. He is mobile; however, he requires assistance of one to walk indoors and occasionally uses a walking frame. He tires easily outdoors so uses a buggy for longer distances. He is an academically bright child with lots of interests but can find writing challenging. He attends a local mainstream primary school, where he has dedicated support time. He has a package of therapeutic care which includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and psychology input. The support worker will be actively involved in implementing any therapy regimes after training. The family like to be active and enjoy day trips out on their weekends which D loves to join in on. Attendance at outings and holidays will be required to support D to access all of his interests. A driver is essential as he will need to be taken to and from activities on occasions. D loves swimming, playing in the garden and reading activities as well as playing with his toys, however there may be times when he would rather relax as he can experience extreme fatigue some days. D and his sisters get on like any siblings and enjoy playing together. The support worker will be involved in the evening routine and also carry out light household tasks and food preparation.
