Funded PA role available £16 per hour We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated carer or nurse to assist with the care of our daughter, E. E is a loving young girl with Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Deficiency (PDH Deficiency) requiring the support of someone who can help her thrive both at home and in the community. E uses a wheelchair and is considered non-verbal, though she communicates very well with a few spoken words, Makaton signs, and a talker device. She has swallowing difficulties so requires assistance/supervision when eating and then has medication and liquids given through a mickey button in her stomach. This role is essential in ensuring she remains comfortable, safe, and engaged in activities she enjoys. This is a funded PA role which will consist of 6 hours per week during term time and 12 hours a week during school holidays. Key Responsibilities: • Assist E with her day-to-day care needs, ensuring her safety and comfort. • Participate in and encourage E favourite activities, such as arts, crafts, and games. • Build a warm, understanding relationship with E, learning her likes and dislikes to help reduce anxiety. • Support E alongside her mother, Laura, or independently as required, both at home and in the community. • Help E at mealtimes and provide water/medication through her gastrostomy (training can be provided). Candidate Requirements: • Patience, compassion, and experience in supporting children with unique needs. • An understanding or willingness to learn certain makaton signs and how to use E talker for effective communication. • Ability to offer flexible hours based on the needs of E and the family. • A DBS check is essential.
