Special Needs Care in Simcoe

| I have been working with kids with autism, adhd, physical and mental disorders for over 10 years. I graduated as a Child and Youth Worker in 2015 and have been working as an educational assistant since then.

| I am currently an Educational Assistant with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. I currently work in a classroom within a high school setting where we work with our students to gain independence in daily life skills and social interaction. I was previously employed with Brantwood Community Services as a Direct Support Professional for six years, where I was able to support individuals with complex medical and developmental disabilities, as well as those struggling with behavioural challenges. In these employment opportunities I have demonstrated strong leadership when dealing with crisis situations that may occur. I have been able to participate in several professional development opportunities including Suicide ASIST training, Picture Exchange Communication training as well as multiple ABA courses with the school board through Sonderly. I hope to implement the skills I have developed, in order to better the lives of the people supported.

| I have 12 years experience working with children/teens/adults and seniors with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities. I have worked with people whose diagnosis are as follows; Autism/Asperger's Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Prader Willi Syndrome and Dual Diagnosis, such as Down Syndrome and Schizophrenia, Autism and Multiple Personality Disorder, Down Syndrome and ADHD, Chromosome 9 deficiency, and Trisomy 13. I have also worked with children who were medically fragile. I have worked in Elementary and High schools, After School Activity Programs, and as a Respite Care Provider. I have volunteered with the Special Olympics swim team and at a Summer Camp for “special needs” children. I have always loved working with people who have a diagnosis. They have a special place in my heart and I will continue working with them for as long as I am able.

Lifts, transfers, personal care, medication assistance, ROM (PT approved), available for light house keeping, meal prep, grocery shopping, companionship and transportation to appointments etc. Experience working with brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. | I am a responsible, outgoing young lady who has a passion for making those around me smile and laugh. I have experience working with children from the time I was about 11 years old. I have a five-year-old niece who I love spending time with whenever I can. I am in my third year of college in the Social Service Worker Program and am currently in placement at Haldimand Abilities Centre in Hagersville three days a week where I work with participants from Community Living, Alzheimer's Society, Brain Injury Services, and Vision Loss Rehab (CNIB).
